Summary

In Laradock up to and including 20.4, the build process (workspace/Dockerfile) downloads code without integrity verification. The attack is remote but of high complexity and difficult exploitability; the exploit has been publicly disclosed. The fix in version 20.5 replaces plaintext downloads with HTTPS-only downloads and verifies SHA-256 hashes.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could supply modified code during image build, potentially compromising the environment. Due to high complexity the risk is limited, but the public exploit increases the threat.

Recommendation

Update Laradock to version 20.5 or later, which contains the fix (commit c3494f432668472056aa0a9134ff4e0d9d2e8cea). Ensure downloaded artifacts are verified via HTTPS and SHA-256 hashes.
