Summary

Heap-based buffer overflow in Opengear IM72XX, CM71XX, and ACM70XX firmware versions 4.8.0 through 5.5.2 on console server appliances. An unauthenticated remote attacker can crash the index.cgi process via a crafted multipart/form-data POST request containing an overlong Content-Disposition name field.

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) of the device management interface, potentially disrupting administrative access to console infrastructure.

Recommendation

Update Opengear device firmware to a version later than 5.5.2 or apply the vendor's guidance. Until patched, restrict access to the web interface to trusted networks.
