Low risk
0.39%

33th percentile - higher than 33% of all known CVEs

Summary

When pretix is used as the identity provider in a Single-Sign-On (SSO) setup for customer accounts, the system did not properly validate the `response_type` requested in an authorization request against the configured grant type of the SSO client. A client configured to only allow the `code` response type could receive back a valid token of another type, such as `id_token`. Exploiting this requires the attacker to run JavaScript on the page specified by `redirect_uri`, which must be from a list specified in the client configuration.

Risk Assessment

Attackers may obtain valid tokens inconsistent with the intended SSO client configuration, potentially leading to unauthorized access to customer accounts. The risk is limited by the requirement to run JavaScript on an allowed redirect URI.

Recommendation

Update pretix to a version containing the `response_type` validation fix. Review SSO client configurations and ensure allowed `redirect_uri` values are strictly restricted.

Original NVD description (English source)

When pretix is used as the identity provider in a Single-Sign-On (SSO) setup for customer accounts, the system did not properly validate the `response_type` requested in an authorization request against the configured grant type of the SSO client. This means that if an SSO client was configured to only allow the `code` response type, which requires knowledge of the client secret to use and would wrongfully send a response type like `id_token`, it would receive back a valid token. Exploiting this requires the attacker to run JavaScript on the page specified by `redirect_uri`, which must be from a list specified in the client configuration.
