Summary

An ACAP configuration file lacked sufficient input validation, which could allow a path traversal attack leading to potential privilege escalation. Exploitation requires the Axis device to allow installation of unsigned ACAP applications and the attacker to convince the victim to install a malicious ACAP application.

Risk Assessment

Under specific configurations, an attacker may gain elevated privileges on an Axis device, potentially leading to device compromise.

Recommendation

Disable installation of unsigned ACAP applications and apply the firmware update containing the input validation fix.
