Summary

HedgeDoc is an open source, real-time, collaborative, markdown notes application. Prior to 1.10.4, some of HedgeDoc's OAuth2 endpoints for social login providers such as Google, GitHub, GitLab, Facebook or Dropbox lack CSRF protection, since they don't send a state parameter and verify the response using this parameter. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.10.4.

Risk Assessment

The lack of CSRF protection in the OAuth2 flow may allow an attacker to force a victim to log in to the attacker's account or hijack a session. This can lead to unauthorized access to notes and user data.

Recommendation

Update HedgeDoc to version 1.10.4 or later. It is also advisable to review OAuth2 provider configurations and monitor for unusual login events.
