19th percentile - higher than 19% of all known CVEs

Summary

Mega-Fence (webgate-lib.*) 25.1.914 and prior trusts the first X-Forwarded-For (XFF) value as the client IP without validating a trusted proxy chain. An attacker can supply an arbitrary XFF value to spoof the client IP, which is propagated to security-relevant state (e.g., the WG_CLIENT_IP cookie).

Risk Assessment

Deployments relying on this IP value for allowlists may be bypassed, enabling unauthorized access.

Recommendation

Configure the application to trust XFF only from known proxies and validate the proxy chain, and do not base allowlists solely on the XFF value.

Original NVD description (English source)

Mega-Fence (webgate-lib.*) 25.1.914 and prior trusts the first value of the X-Forwarded-For (XFF) header as the client IP without validating a trusted proxy chain. An attacker can supply an arbitrary XFF value in a remote request to spoof the client IP, which is then propagated to security-relevant state (e.g., WG_CLIENT_IP cookie). Deployments that rely on this value for IP allowlists may be bypassed.
