Summary

Multiple stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP allow remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted payload injected into a user's first, middle, or last name text field, displayed in page comments, blog entry comments, document and media comments, message board messages, wiki page comments, and other widgets/apps that support mentions. The vulnerability affects Portal 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.111 and DXP 2023.Q4.0 through 2023.Q4.5, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.8, and 7.4 GA through update 92.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could execute malicious script in the browser of other users viewing infected content, potentially leading to session or data theft. This requires the attacker to be authenticated.

Recommendation

Update Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP to the latest patched version. Implement input validation and sanitization for text fields.
