Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.32%

23th percentile - higher than 23% of all known CVEs

Summary

Mattermost Desktop App versions <=5.13.0 fail to manage modals, preventing a user with a server that uses basic authentication from accessing their server. An attacker providing a malicious server can deny use of the Desktop App by having the user configure the malicious server and forcing a modal popup that cannot be closed.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could cause a denial of service for the Desktop App user, disrupting work. It requires user interaction (configuring a malicious server) but can be exploited for denial of service.

Recommendation

Update Mattermost Desktop App to a version later than 5.13.0 that fixes this issue. Until then, avoid configuring untrusted servers.
