CVE-2025-52860
MediumCVSS 4.9Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk31th percentile - higher than 31% of all known CVEs
Summary
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability affects several QNAP operating system versions. If a remote attacker gains an administrator account, they can exploit it to launch a denial-of-service (DoS) attack. The issue is fixed in QTS 5.2.6.3195 build 20250715 and later and QuTS hero h5.2.6.3195 build 20250715 and later.
Risk Assessment
An attacker with an administrator account can crash services and disrupt access to the NAS, causing data and service unavailability. Exploitation requires prior compromise of administrator privileges.
Recommendation
Update QNAP systems to QTS 5.2.6.3195 build 20250715 or later, or QuTS hero h5.2.6.3195 build 20250715 or later. Additionally, restrict administrative access and protect administrator accounts with strong passwords and MFA.
