CVE-2024-46820

HighCVSS 7.8
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In the Linux kernel, the drm/amdgpu/vcn driver removed IRQ disabling calls in the VCN 5 suspend path because VCN IRQ is not directly enabled or disabled in version 5.0.0. The change eliminates the "WARN_ON(!amdgpu_irq_enabled(adev, src, type))" warning in amdgpu_irq_put().

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability primarily affects system stability and may cause kernel warnings during suspend operations on AMD hardware with VCN 5. No direct impact on data confidentiality or integrity has been identified.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix for this issue. If not possible, monitor kernel logs for warnings related to amdgpu_irq_put().

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/vcn: remove irq disabling in vcn 5 suspend We do not directly enable/disable VCN IRQ in vcn 5.0.0. And we do not handle the IRQ state as well. So the calls to disable IRQ and set state are removed. This effectively gets rid of the warining of "WARN_ON(!amdgpu_irq_enabled(adev, src, type))" in amdgpu_irq_put().
