Very high risk98th percentile - higher than 98% of all known CVEs
Summary
Appwrite up to version 1.2.1 was found to contain a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the /v1/avatars/favicon component. This allows attackers to access network resources and sensitive information via a crafted GET request.
Risk Assessment
The risk involves unauthorized access to internal network resources and potential leakage of sensitive data, which could lead to further attacks on the organization's infrastructure.
Recommendation
It is recommended to immediately upgrade Appwrite to version 1.2.2 or later, which includes a fix for the SSRF vulnerability. Additionally, consider restricting access to the /v1/avatars/favicon component using firewall rules.
Other vulnerabilities in Appwrite
See all- CVE-2026-108770Medium
A weakness has been identified in Appwrite up to 2.3.0. The function PublicHostname of the file src/Appwrite/Platform/Modules/Avatars/Http/Screenshots/Get.php in the Browser Screenshot Service component is affected. Manipulation of the argument url causes server-side request forgery. The attack can be initiated remotely. Upgrading to version 2.4.0 resolves the issue.
- CVE-2026-89036High
Appwrite before 2.0.0 contains an argument injection vulnerability that allows authenticated users with functions.write or sites.write permissions to execute arbitrary commands by injecting TAB characters into the providerRootDirectory parameter used to construct GNU tar commands. The application uses escapeshellcmd instead of escapeshellarg and fails to quote the parameter, allowing TAB characters to survive sanitization and be interpreted as argument separators, enabling injection of arbitrary GNU tar arguments such as --checkpoint-action=exec to achieve remote code execution as the builds worker process user.
