Summary

On BIG-IP versions 17.0.x before 17.0.0.2, 16.1.x before 16.1.3.3, 15.1.x before 15.1.8.1, 14.1.x before 14.1.5.3, and all versions of 13.1.x, when a DNS profile with Rapid Response Mode enabled is configured on a virtual server with hardware SYN cookies enabled, undisclosed requests cause the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) to terminate.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can trigger a TMM crash, causing unavailability of services provided by BIG-IP. This can disrupt applications relying on the device.

Recommendation

Upgrade BIG-IP to version 17.0.0.2, 16.1.3.3, 15.1.8.1, or 14.1.5.3 (or later). Versions 13.1.x are end-of-support and not evaluated.
