CVE-2006-3507

High
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

The AirPort wireless driver on Apple Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.4.7 contains multiple stack-based buffer overflows. A physically proximate attacker can inject crafted frames into a wireless network to execute arbitrary code.

Risk Assessment

An attacker within wireless range can take control of the system without any user interaction. This is especially dangerous in public places where the Wi-Fi network is accessible to outsiders.

Recommendation

Update Mac OS X to the latest version containing the AirPort driver fix. Until patched, disable the wireless interface when not in use.
