Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
A security issue exists in MongoDB's 2dsphere index key generation that can cause a server crash due to a null pointer dereference. When a specially crafted GeoJSON document is inserted into a collection with a 2dsphere index, an inconsistency in geometry parsing can leave an internal object in an invalid, partially initialized state. During subsequent index key generation, access to this improperly initialized object results in a null pointer dereference that terminates the mongod process. An authenticated user with write access can use this to cause a denial of service.
A security issue exists in MongoDB server's JSON Pointer parser used during $jsonSchema query filter processing. When a find command includes a specially crafted $jsonSchema filter field, the parser processes the input without enforcing adequate limits on iteration count or total allocation size, resulting in significant memory amplification. Under concurrent request load, the cumulative memory consumption can exhaust available heap memory, causing the server's out-of-memory handler to terminate the mongod process and deny service to all connected clients.
The $regexFindAll expression can be used by an authenticated user who can run aggregation pipeline stages to crash a MongoDB server (mongod). Under certain specific conditions the regex match can start in the middle of a multi-code-unit character, triggering an assertion during query execution.
An information disclosure vulnerability has been identified in Omada Controller. An API endpoint intended for Controller initialization remains accessible after completion and may disclose account-related information to unauthenticated remote users. Successful exploitation may allow an attacker to remotely query the affected endpoint that may facilitate user enumeration and subsequent attacks targeting administrative accounts.
AshAi exposes Ash read actions to language-model tool calls. The read tool accepts an aggregate result type (min, max, sum, avg) that builds an ad-hoc Ash.Query.Aggregate over a named field and returns its raw value. Ash field policies redact forbidden fields on returned records (replacing them with %Ash.ForbiddenField{}), but that redaction does not apply to aggregate values. A tool caller could therefore read a field the calling actor's field policies forbid by requesting it as an aggregate; min/max in particular return an actual field value. This includes fields that are public? true but restricted per-actor by a field policy, such as sensitive PII. The tool's existing check only required the field to be public, which is a separate axis from per-actor field-policy authorization. The fix authorizes the aggregated field against the resource's field policies, so aggregating over a field the actor may not see is refused or scoped to the rows where it is visible. This issue affects ash_ai: from 0.1.0 before 1.0.3.
AshLua exposes Ash read actions to Lua scripts run through an eval action. A read call accepts an operation (list, min, max, first, sum, avg) that builds an ad-hoc Ash.Query.Aggregate over a named field and returns its raw value. Ash field policies redact forbidden fields on returned records (replacing them with %Ash.ForbiddenField{}), but that redaction does not apply to aggregate values. A script could therefore read a field the calling actor's field policies forbid by requesting it as an aggregate instead of as a field. This includes fields that are public? true but restricted per-actor by a field policy, such as sensitive PII. The prior hardening only enforced the exposed-field allow-list (field visibility), which is a separate axis from per-actor field-policy authorization. The fix authorizes the aggregated field against the resource's field policies, so aggregating over a field the actor may not see is refused or scoped to the rows where it is visible. This issue affects ash_lua: from 0.1.0 before 0.2.2.
An authenticated stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Column Management component of ClassCMS 1CMS v5.6 allows attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts or HTML via injecting a crafted payload into the title field.
An improper access control vulnerability in Fortinet FortiManager 7.6.0 through 7.6.4, FortiManager 7.4.0 through 7.4.10, FortiManager 7.2 all versions, FortiManager Cloud 7.6.2 through 7.6.4, FortiManager Cloud 7.4.1 through 7.4.10, FortiManager Cloud 7.2 all versions may allow an administrator to bypass the approval process for workflow sessions via crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests.
A malicious webpage could repeatedly trigger external URL schemes, causing system prompts or external application launches. This could make Firefox for iOS temporarily unusable until the page is closed. This vulnerability was fixed in Firefox for iOS 155.1.
Snipe-it versions before 8.7.0 fail to enforce asset view authorization in the GET /hardware/{asset}/barcode endpoint. Authenticated attackers can iterate asset IDs to retrieve barcodes and enumerate asset tags across tenants, including soft-deleted and cross-company assets.
Snipe-it before 8.7.0 contains an incorrect calculation vulnerability in checkout request handling that allows authenticated users to corrupt the assets.requests_counter through duplicate submissions and cancellations without active requests. Attackers can repeatedly call cancel endpoints without active requests to drive the counter negative, or submit duplicate checkout requests to inflate the counter, misrepresenting pending demand in the admin queue.
Snipe-it versions before 8.7.0 contain a server-side request forgery vulnerability in the ExternalUrl validation rule that fails to detect IPv6 transition addresses encoding private IPv4 targets. Attackers with super-admin privileges can configure webhook URLs using NAT64, 6to4, or Teredo transition addresses to bypass SSRF guards and access internal services or cloud metadata endpoints.
Snipe-IT before 8.7.1 fails to validate the length of the note field in the POST /account/accept/{acceptance} endpoint, allowing authenticated users to submit unbounded input that reaches synchronous CommonMark rendering. Attackers can submit large note values to exhaust PHP worker CPU and cause denial of service through resource exhaustion in the markdown parsing pipeline.
Craft CMS versions 5.0.0-RC1 through 5.10.11 are missing an admin-target guard in UsersController::actionActivateUser (the users/activate-user action). While the action requires the administrateUsers permission, it does not call requireAdmin() when the targeted user is an administrator, unlike the mirror action actionDeactivateUser. As a result, an authenticated control panel user who is not an administrator but holds the administrateUsers permission can activate a pending or deliberately deactivated administrator account, which can lead to permission escalation when combined with resetting that account's password. The issue is fixed in Craft CMS 5.10.12.
AVideo through 29.0 contains an information disclosure vulnerability in restreamsActive.json.php that allows authenticated streamers to enumerate source stream keys and identities of all other streamers' active restreams. The endpoint fails to filter results by user ownership, exposing sensitive transmission credentials and streamer identity across all accounts to any user with streaming capability.
AVideo through commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in plugin/YPTWallet/view/saveBalance.php that allows attackers to set arbitrary wallet balances by relying only on session cookies without token validation. Attackers can craft a malicious webpage that, when loaded by an administrator, submits a POST request to modify any user's wallet balance to any value.
WWBN AVideo through commit c3edcc274c389816d434acadac07ee78eaf330c1 (master) contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the CustomizeUser plugin endpoint plugin/CustomizeUser/swapUser.json.php. The endpoint takes users_id from $_REQUEST and invokes User::swapUser() without calling forbidIfNotPost() or forbidIfInvalidToken(), and the global autoCSRFGuard() check only runs for POST requests to *.json.php, so the action is reachable via GET. An attacker who causes an authenticated administrator's browser to issue a cross-origin GET (for example via an <img> tag or link) can replace that administrator's session with a non-admin user account, causing the administrator to lose administrative access until the swap is cancelled; swapping to another administrator account is rejected, so this is not privilege escalation. The JSON response also discloses the session_id. The CustomizeUser plugin is enabled by default, and no patch was available at the time of publication.
L-ONE v1.0.0 was discovered to contain multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in the /attachment/getBusinessUploadList component via the busid, id, and taskid parameters. This vulnerability allows attackers to access sensitive database information via a crafted SQL statement.
OpenBSD before commit 1ee99df contains an inverted comparison vulnerability in the ieee80211_michael_mic_failure() function within sys/net80211/ieee80211_crypto_tkip.c that allows unauthenticated attackers within RF range to trigger denial of service by sending two malformed TKIP frames separated by more than 60 seconds. Attackers can exploit the reversed TKIP MIC failure countermeasure window check to deauthenticate all associated TKIP stations and block reassociation for up to 90 seconds, while within-window MIC failures that should engage countermeasures are silently discarded, leaving key-recovery attempts undetected.
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability exists in the ONLYOFFICE ownCloud Integration plugin version 9.12. The /apps/onlyoffice/ajax/settings/address endpoint does not sufficiently validate the user-supplied Document Server URL before initiating outbound connections. An authenticated administrator can manipulate the document server parameter to cause the ownCloud server to send arbitrary requests to attacker-controlled destinations, including localhost and internal network hosts. This allows internal network reconnaissance and TCP port scanning based on differences in server responses.
