Weekly CVE digest
One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.
This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.
Malcolm's nginx based reverse proxy contains a URL path normalization inconsistency between its Lua based RBAC authorization layer and nginx's own request routing logic. An authenticated user can craft a specially formatted request path to bypass role-based restrictions and reach administrative or role gated endpoints they should not have access to, including file upload, PHP server, htadmin, and authentication management interfaces.
JHipster prior to generator-jhipster 9.4.0 and react-jhipster 1.1.0 has a vulnerability where generated applications can persist attacker-controlled Blob data and companion ContentType values, return them through REST endpoints, and pass them to the generated openFile helper. The helper uses the returned ContentType as the browser Blob MIME type and opens an object URL, so a normal authenticated user with write access to a Blob-bearing entity can store active HTML or SVG content that may execute under the application origin when a privileged user opens it.
msgpack5 prior to 6.1.0 has a vulnerability where the decoder reads the four-byte length of a map32 value before validating that the complete five-byte header is available. A truncated map32 header therefore causes a checked out-of-bounds buffer read and throws RangeError instead of IncompleteBufferError, which can unexpectedly terminate a request, stream, or worker in applications that wait for additional bytes after IncompleteBufferError.
An authorization flaw in Zimbra Collaboration Suite's GrantRightsRequest allows an attacker with access to an authenticated account to grant another local account the loginAs right, creating persistent mailbox access and mail-sending authority that survives password changes and session expiry.
A path traversal vulnerability exists in Bower decompress-zip through version 0.3.3. The vulnerability located in `lib/decompress-zip.js` improperly validates archive entry paths during ZIP extraction. A crafted ZIP archive containing entries that resolve to prefix-sibling directories can cause files to be written outside the intended extraction directory. Successful exploitation may allow arbitrary file overwrite, application compromise, or remote code execution depending on the target environment and writable sibling paths.
msgpack5 is a msgpack v5 implementation for node.js and the browser. Prior to 6.1.0, the streaming decoder recursively invokes itself for each complete MessagePack value remaining in a chunk. A remote peer can send one chunk containing many small valid values, causing recursion proportional to the value count, exhausting the JavaScript call stack, and interrupting the process or stream. This issue is fixed in version 6.1.0.
Pydantic AI is a Python agent framework for building applications and workflows with Generative AI. From 1.34.0 until 1.107.4 and 2.28.0, the Agent.to_web() and clai web development chat endpoint has missing request content-type validation. A website visited by a developer can submit a browser-compatible request to a loopback-hosted chat server, causing the served agent to run and execute tools with the privileges and credentials of the local process; client-relayed approval decisions also leave requires_approval=True tools exposed. Binding to localhost does not prevent a browser page from reaching the loopback address. This issue is fixed in versions 1.107.4 and 2.28.0.
Deserialization of Untrusted Data vulnerability in MainWP MainWP Child mainwp-child allows Object Injection. This issue affects MainWP Child: from n/a through 6.2.1.
Obsidian Desktop before 1.14.0 contains a filter bypass vulnerability in the bundled MathJax 3.2.2 Safe component that allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by embedding a crafted \href value with a TAB byte in the URL scheme, causing filterURL to produce an empty protocol that bypasses the configured safeProtocols restrictions. Attackers can craft a note containing a malicious MathJax formula that renders as a javascript: URL anchor, which when clicked by the victim in Live Preview executes in the Node-integration-enabled vault renderer via require('child_process'), achieving arbitrary operating system command execution as the desktop user.
Obsidian Desktop before 1.14.0 contains a remote code execution vulnerability that allows attackers to craft malicious Markdown notes exploiting insufficient sanitization of the data-background-iframe attribute, which bypasses DOMPurify and is processed by the bundled Reveal.js 4.3.1 within the Slides core plugin, allowing a javascript: URL to execute in the resulting background iframe. Because Node integration is enabled and context isolation is disabled in Obsidian's vault renderer, the injected script can call parent.require() to access Node APIs such as fs and child_process, enabling arbitrary operating system command execution when the victim opens the note and manually starts the presentation.
An issue in the ConfirmNameConstraints() function (wolfcrypt/src/asn.c) of wolfSSL v5.9.1 and v5.9.2 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via providing crafted Certificate Authority certificates, leading to valid certificates without SAN to be incorrectly rejected by wolfSSL-based TLS clients.
The `insights-operator-gather` ClusterRole grants the operator's service account read access to secrets in the core API group with no namespace or resourceNames restriction — therefore, access to every secret in every namespace in the cluster. By spawning a pod with the gather service account mounted, an attacker will be able to access any secret in any namespace.
IBM DataPower Gateway 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 could allow a remote attacker to bypass authentication by forging valid JSON Web Signatures due to improper verification of cryptographic signatures.
IBM DataPower Gateway 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 is vulnerable to an XML external entity injection (XXE) attack when processing XML data. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to expose sensitive information or consume memory resources.
IBM DataPower Gateway 10.5.0.0 through 10.5.0.22, 10.6.1 through 10.6.6, 10.6.0.0 through 10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code due to a heap-based buffer overflow.
IBM DataPower Gateway versions 11.0.0.0 through 11.0.0.2 contain a vulnerability caused by improper memory allocation during key derivation. A remote authenticated attacker can exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service.
IBM DataPower Gateway versions 10.5.0.0–10.5.0.22, 10.6.1–10.6.6, 10.6.0.0–10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0–11.0.0.2 contain a vulnerability due to improper verification of cryptographic signatures. A remote authenticated attacker can bypass security restrictions.
IBM DataPower Gateway versions 10.5.0.0–10.5.0.22, 10.6.1–10.6.6, 10.6.0.0–10.6.0.10, and 11.0.0.0–11.0.0.2 contain a heap-based buffer overflow. A remote attacker can exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service.
ILIAS before 9.24, 10.x before 10.12, and 11.x before 11.5 contains an argument injection vulnerability in assImagemapQuestionGUI that allows question authors to inject ImageMagick convert options via uploaded image filenames. Attackers can embed tab-separated options, which escapeshellcmd() does not neutralise, to write a PHP file under the web root and achieve remote code execution.
Insufficient job validation for service accounts in Jacamar CI prior to v0.30.0 allows authenticated CI users to generate arbitrary account names.
