Weekly CVE digest

One email a week with newly published vulnerabilities worth knowing about. No account needed.

This digest covers new vulnerabilities in general, not your servers. If you want to know which of them actually run in your infrastructure, that is what Secvalis does: it scans your machines and reports only what concerns them.

I agree to receive the weekly CVE digest at the address above. I can withdraw this consent at any time using the link in the footer of every message.

CVE-2026-23316
Medium

A bug in the Linux kernel's IPv4 multipath hash seed handling caused an alignment fault on ARM64. Incorrect use of READ_ONCE() on the entire 8-byte structure led to executing an ldar instruction on a 4-byte aligned address, causing a kernel panic when compiled with Clang and LTO. Additionally, WRITE_ONCE() on the whole structure could be split by the compiler, breaking atomicity and creating a tear-write vulnerability.

CVE-2026-23313
Medium

The Linux kernel has a vulnerability in the i40e driver causing a preempt count leak in the napi poll tracepoint. Using get_cpu() in the tracepoint assignment causes a leak because nothing invokes put_cpu(), leading to a preempt count mismatch. The issue was fixed by replacing get_cpu() with smp_processor_id().

CVE-2026-23312
Medium

In the Linux kernel, the kaweth driver did not validate that the device it is probing has the proper number and types of USB endpoints before binding to it. A malicious device without the expected endpoints can cause the driver to crash.

CVE-2026-23310
Medium

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel allows changing the transmission hash policy to vlan+srcmac while an XDP program is loaded on a bond in 802.3ad or balance-xor mode. This can lead to incompatibility and errors when destroying bonds.

CVE-2026-23308
Medium

In the Linux kernel, the pinctrl: equilibrium driver has a bug that causes a warning trace on every GPIO load. The function eqbr_irq_mask_ack() calls eqbr_irq_mask(), which additionally calls gpiochip_disable_irq(), leading to the warning trace. The issue was fixed by implementing the logic directly without calling eqbr_irq_mask() and eqbr_irq_ack().

CVE-2026-23307
Medium

In the Linux kernel, the ems_usb_read_bulk_callback() function in the CAN ems_usb driver has a message length checking issue. When looking at the data in a USB urb, actual_length is the size of the buffer passed to the driver, not the transfer_buffer_length set by the driver as the max size of the buffer. When parsing messages in ems_usb_read_bulk_callback(), properly check the size both at the beginning of parsing the message to ensure it is big enough for the expected structure, and at the end of the message to ensure we don't overflow past the end of the buffer for the next message.

CVE-2026-23304
Medium

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel's ip6_rt_get_dev_rcu() function. It occurs when a slave device is being un-slaved from a VRF, causing l3mdev_master_dev_rcu() to return NULL and leading to a system crash.

CVE-2026-23303
Medium

In the Linux kernel, cifs_set_cifscreds() logged the key payload when debug logging was enabled, exposing the plaintext username and password. The fix removes this debug log.

CVE-2026-23302
Medium

A data race vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel around the sk->sk_data_ready and sk->sk_write_space pointers. The skmsg layer (and possibly others) modifies these pointers while other CPUs may read them concurrently, leading to undefined behavior.

CVE-2026-23300
Medium

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel causes a system panic when an IPv4 route references an IPv6 nexthop object configured on a loopback interface. The issue stems from misclassifying such an object as a reject route, skipping initialization of the nhc_pcpu_rth_output structure, leading to a NULL pointer dereference.

CVE-2026-23299
Medium

Problem został rozwiązany poprzez pominięcie takich wiadomości i kontynuowanie przetwarzania kolejnych.

CVE-2026-23297
Medium

W jądrze Linuxa zidentyfikowano i naprawiono podatność związaną z wyciekiem pamięci struktury cred w funkcji nfsd_nl_threads_set_doit(). Problem polegał na tym, że referencja do cred była przekazywana, ale nie była odpowiednio zwalniana, co prowadziło do wycieku pamięci.

CVE-2026-23296
Medium

In the Linux kernel, a refcount leak for tagset_refcnt in the SCSI subsystem causes a hang when tearing down the SCSI host, as seen with iscsid hanging.

CVE-2026-23295
Medium

W jądrze Linuxa zidentyfikowano podatność, która prowadzi do zakleszczenia podczas wstrzymywania i wznawiania aplikacji. Problem występuje, gdy aplikacja wydaje zapytanie IOCTL w trakcie automatycznego wstrzymywania, co prowadzi do blokady zasobów.

CVE-2026-23293
Medium

A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's VXLAN driver causes a NULL pointer dereference in the IPv6 neighbor table (nd_tbl) when booting with the 'ipv6.disable=1' parameter. An attacker can send a crafted IPv6 packet to a VXLAN interface, triggering route_shortcircuit() and leading to a kernel Oops and potential system crash.

CVE-2026-23292
Medium

In the Linux kernel, the SCSI target function target_core_item_dbroot_store() used filp_open(), leading to recursive locking of the frag_sem semaphore. The fix changes it to use kern_path() to avoid opening the file via __configfs_open_file().

CVE-2026-23291
Medium

CVE-2026-23290
Medium

The pegasus USB driver in the Linux kernel lacks validation of USB endpoints. A malicious USB device can crash the driver by not providing the expected endpoints.

CVE-2026-23289
Medium

W jądrze Linuxa naprawiono podatność związaną z IB/mthca, polegającą na braku wywołania funkcji mthca_unmap_user_db() w mthca_create_srq(). Problem ten prowadził do wycieku pamięci w przypadku niepowodzenia wywołania systemowego.
